Dooks Golf Links is probably one of the most impressive I have visited in terms of
the wildlife, habitat and landform interest features. Even during my brief visit a
number of significant plant species were recorded, the more significent including
Pennyroyal, Butterwort, Kidney-vetch, Bird's-foot trefoil, Bluebell, purple orchid
and at least four species of native heather.
I was indeed surprised and very pleased to see the natterjack toad (Bufo calamita )
pools. I understand that these support significant colonies of this rare amphibian.
Comments from "Ecological Appraisal of Dooks Golf Links",
May 2004,
Mr. Bob Taylor (STRI Senior Ecologist)
The links provide an excellent buffer and habitat for birds including skylark, whimbrel, stonechat and song thrush.
The "Pennyroyal" has been discovered in Dooks in recent years.
We are also in the conservation group Committed to Green and great care is taken to
protect the many fine natural amenities and species we are priviliged to have on our Links.
